Telemedicine

Telemedicine complements physical exams, providing convenient online assistance for diagnosing and treating pets. We can determine if an in-person visit is needed without additional exam fees. We’re excited to offer this long-term service.

Introducing TeleVet: Remote Healthcare Services for Your Pet

Foothill Farms Veterinary Hospital now offers remote healthcare services with TeleVet! The TeleVet mobile app lets you easily send virtual consultation requests to us whenever your pet is sick or injured.

To get started, download the TeleVet app on the iTunes or Google Play store and create your profile and pets (pictures are encouraged!). When you need us, create a consultation request detailing your pet’s issue. Upload pictures or videos, send instant messages, and talk with us face to face through a video conference call to help your pet feel better again.

We look forward to talking with you soon.

While Telemedicine can not replace the invaluable information gained from a thorough physical exam, it may serve as an adjunctive means without requiring you and your pet to come into the hospital.

With online communication, our veterinary team will be able to assist in diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions. We will also be able to help determine if your pet needs to be seen, by whom (our practice or perhaps an emergency clinic), and with what urgency.

As our patients can not verbally convey their feelings, veterinarians rely heavily on their physical exam and testing to diagnose a patient correctly. Therefore, when in doubt, the recommendation will be to come in to see us. If our veterinarians recommend coming into our practice for an exam or diagnostics, you will not be charged another exam fee.

Please note that, due to California law, veterinarians are not permitted to diagnose, treat, or prescribe without an active “Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship” (VCPR). The current standard of care to satisfy this requirement is a physical exam of the pet within one calendar year.

Therefore, this service is available to active clients with pets who have had a physical exam within the last year.

If you are a new client or have a pet that has not yet been examined, we can offer advice and make general recommendations. Still, we can not officially diagnose or dispense medication.

We are excited to introduce this supplemental service and anticipate utilizing it in the long run.
