While Telemedicine can not replace the invaluable information gained from a thorough physical exam, it may serve as an adjunctive means without requiring you and your pet to come into the hospital.
With online communication, our Veterinary Team will be able to assist in diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions. We will also be able to help determine if your pet needs to be seen, by whom (our practice or perhaps an emergency clinic) and with what urgency.
As our patients can not verbally convey how they feel, Veterinarians rely heavily on their physical exam and testing in order to correctly diagnose a patient. Therefore, when in doubt, the recommendation will be to come in to see us. If our Doctors recommend coming in to our practice for an exam or diagnostics, you will not be charged another exam fee.
Please note that due to California law, Veterinarians are not permitted to diagnose, treat, or prescribe without an active “Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationship” (VCPR). The current standard of care to satisfy this requirement is a physical exam of the pet within one calendar year.
Therefore, this service is available to active clients, with pets that have had a physical exam within the last year.
If you are a new client or have a pet that is not up to date on their exam, we can offer advice and make general recommendations but can not officially diagnose or dispense medication.
We are excited to introduce this supplemental service and anticipate utilizing it in the long run.
